According to court documents, Lincoln Police and CPS workers were initially sent to a home near 18th and A street on July 21. They said the officers and workers were there because of an ongoing child abuse investigation due to unsanitary conditions.

    OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A fourth person has been arrested in the July 7 shooting death of an Omaha man. Omaha police say 37-year-old Jason Rankin was arrested Friday in Iowa on unrelated charges and is being held on a Nebraska warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Billy Allen Walker. The arrest came two days after another man, 35-year-old Mark Gonzales, was arrested on warrant charging him with accessory to a felony in Walker's death. More >>

    Gun shots near 18th and G Streets

    Lincoln Police say that five to six gunshots were heard near the 1800 block of G Street. Witnesses say they heard loud shouting between a group of people at Lewis Field, followed by the firing of the weapon, a little before midnight Saturday. When Lincoln Police arrived they found a couple of shell casings,  There were no reported injuries and LPD is still investigating the shooting. More >>

(AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reminding the public that some sandbars in the Missouri River between Nebraska and South Dakota are closed to recreational use to keep endangered bird species' nests safe. The Corps says endangered interior least terns and threatened piping plovers are currently nesting on sandbars around the Fort Randall Dam in South Dakota and Ponca State Park in Nebraska.
