Timothy Haverkamp who was serving prison time for his role in the 1985 death of a man at a Rulo survivalist camp was granted parole Wednesday morning. Haverkamp pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and had testified he had a role in the torture death of James Thimm. Haverkamp had served almost 25 years in prison before being granted parole for good behavior with a vote of 5-0 by the parole board. At the hearing, two family members of the victim James Thimm testified along with Haverkamp's pastor. Haverkamp's parole includes he continues to seek mental health counseling and have extensive supervision. Haverkamp plans to live in Lincoln and has a job as a welder with a construction company. He will live with Reverend Sam Keyzer, a pastor at Northern Lighthouse Church. The church has a prison ministries program for released inmates to reintegrate them into the community.
