Ted Turner Speaks To College Students

Philanthropist. Entrepreneur. T-V pioneer. Ted turner carries a lot of titles.

Friday he brought the wisdom that's helped him achieve so much success to Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. That's where he gave students and community members the advice they need to succeed.

He's sometimes called the mouth of the south. But on Friday he was the mouth of Fremont.

"I just think its really nice we can get people of that reputation people who are really benefiting the state to come to midland lutheran college," says Bradley Hall, Midland Lutheran Senior.

Turner is known for founding major television station's TBS, TNT, and CNN. He owns the Atlanta Braves baseball team and the Atlanta Hawks basketball team. He donates millions to charity and is also active right here in Nebraska.

Turner has more than 100-million dollars invested in the state. He owns more land than anyone else here. Why Nebraska? He says its all to save the bison who were once on the brink of extinction. "The herd is growing and I needed a place for the bison to go so I bought some of the land that was for sale in the sandhills and put bison there," said Turner.

But on Friday he was here to spread wisdom at Midland Lutheran College. He told the crowd his keys to success, never lose your humility, always be courageous and stay true to your honor. Something he uses a line from Shakespeare to explain. "My honor is my life we live one take honor from me and my life is done. Then my honor let me try for that I live and for that I will die."  This was Turner's first trip to Fremont.
