One of Lincoln's largest infrastructure projects is one step closer to being finished.
The second phase of the Stevens Creek trunk sewer project is expected to wrap up by the end of the year. Crews have been working since 2005 to lay pipe in the area near the Lancaster Event Center.
Senator Ben Nelson toured the area which is funded in part by stimulus funds. "The facts show recovery funds are putting Nebraskans to work now and into the future. These funds helped us avoid a depression and are pulling us out of a recession by putting people to work at projects like this."
Senator Nelson said the stimulus funds are helping to save the city $140,000 a year over the next 20 years.
