Denice Pelster is your typical Nebraska Career Woman. Well maybe not. She likes to chase tornadoes but has yet to see one. Denise is Channel 8 Eyewitness News "This Morning" and "Midday" Meteorologist. Growing up in Elgin, Nebraska on her family farm, she was terrified of storms as a young child but was later fascinated by the formation of storms and how the atmosphere worked. In eighth grade, Denice decided to pursue a career in weather. Denice graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Meteorology Degree. Denice worked with Channel 8 Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Kevin Coskren as an intern before becoming the a meteorologist at Channel 8 KLKN-TV.
Denice understands the importance of warning Nebraska viewers about the potential for severe weather. Storms can pop up at anytime and every large and small town in our viewing area will be warned when the weather takes a turn for the worst, according to Pelster.
Pelster grew up in her great-grandfather's home near Elgin so she understands the importance of reporting accurate weather forecasts to farmers and those in rural areas.
Pelster was born and raised a Husker fan and the main reason she attended UNL. She still has fond memories of the 1995 National Championship game against Miami. She's also big into sports, playing volleyball and softball around Lincoln.
