We wrap up our week long look at some of the candidates you'll see on your election ballot next Tuesday.
In the U.S. senate race, Steve Larrick is representing the Green party.
Steve Larrick stands behind what he believes in. Earlier this year he led a bike ride across the state to promote alternative energy. He told Channel 8 that we need to stop causing more catastrophic climate change with the burning of fossil fuels and learn from what other countries have done.
"The Canadians are now moving toward industrial hemp, it grows well and produces bio fuel. It's illegal here and it's better than switch grass. We need to look at these alternatives and see what works best."
One of the big issues with the Green party is to promote peace. He says he'd cut military spending in both Iraq and in other parts of the world. He says all U.S. Troops should be out of Iraq within six months.
"War is not the answer. We need fair trade along with free trade. Become more part of the global community. We have so much to offer the world than military action and spending."
When it comes to healthcare, Larrick says once again, see how other counties are making it work successfully.
"We can see Europe and Canada can serve their people for 60% of the cost that we pay in the U.S. We need to look at these systems that are working and that's a universal single payer healthcare system and that's what the Greens support."
And finally the struggling economy, Larrick says we need to stop predatory lending and that deregulation is causing economic tragedies.
"We need to restore financial responsibility in Washington with deregulation over recent years. The firewall's in industries in the financial business have been taken away and once this fire started in the mortgage industry. Now you're going to see the insurance industry go down as well. We need more financial responsibility and my background is in economics and I want to make a strong economy."
