Man arrested after high speed chase

Posted: Updated:

An attempted burglary turned into a high speed chase Wednesday. Officer Katie Flood says 29-year-old Jason Palmateer and another man were trying to get into a house on 32nd and R at around 11:30 a.m.

Police say when officers arrived Palmateer ran away and the other man drove off in a Ford pickup. They say the suspect drove south on 27th street reaching speeds of 65 miles per hour, at one point driving into oncoming traffic.

"Due to high traffic volume at noon on an arterial in Lincoln, the pursuit was terminated," Officer Flood said.

Flood says the pickup was found about an hour later at 8th and H. Police say they are looking for the driver of the pickup.  Palmateer was arrested for driving under suspension and negligent driving.
