Starting tomorrow, some smart phone users will see a speedy improvement in their service. Verizon's 4-G is making it's way to Lincoln.

4-G, or the fourth generation of wireless communication, will be lighting up the skies of Lincoln tomorrow. "I think it's great. You'll be able to get a lot more information faster, better Internet, faster Internet, and phones will work better," said Lincoln resident, Ben Wesseling.

But who actually gets to use it? First, you have to have a 4-G capable phone, tablet or other device. Some have been around for about a year. This means newer Android phones, mobile hotspots and devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tablet and the Microsoft Zoom, to name a few.

Second, what exactly is it? "It's songs in seconds, movies in minutes, it's faster speed and mobile connectivity that they've never had in the past. That's for our consumers. For our business customers it's uploading and downloading larger files faster and their ability to stay connected on the go with their mobile office," said Stephen Knittel, store manager at Verizon in Lincoln.

Knittel says the 4-G products will offer speeds up to ten times faster than what you can get from 3-G coverage. He says nearly all of Lincoln and the surrounding area will have access to 4-G, but if you get out of range you will still be able to use the 3-G services.

Although Ben Wesseling doesn't have a smart phone just yet, he's glad to see the Cornhusker state getting faster. "It's nice that Nebraska is kind of bring recognized. It seems like sometimes it's overlooked as phone coverage and stuff like that, but it's nice that we can get good coverage here," he said.

Verizon stores will open tomorrow morning at nine. The location at 52nd and "O" Streets will be giving away four Droid phones to some lucky people waiting in line.
