BNSF: smoldering wood chips caused fire

Firefighters spent the night putting out a train car fire near Rosa Parks Way and West O Street.

It happened at around 9:30 p.m. Monday. A Burlington Northern Sante Fe spokesman says an employee was welding a box car filled with scrap metal and wood chips. He says the wood chips started smoldering and caught fire. The fire continued to rekindle through the night.

No one was injured in the fire, nor did the train car carry any hazardous materials.
