Several groups spoke out Tuesday against Governor Heineman's tax cut plan. He wants to cut 327-million through income tax relief. The groups say the cuts are irresponsible and jeopardize the future of Nebraska children. One group says it's especially risky for rural Nebraska, where programs have already lost critical state funding.
"The fact is that this tax plan puts vital public services and infrastructure at risk while nearly doubling the coming state budget deficit...the best way to help hard working Nebraska families is to provide important needed public services," Nancy Fulton, Wilber-Clatonia Teacher said.
The Governor responded by saying he wants to lower taxes for Nebraskans. If choosing between providing tax relief for hard working middle class taxpayers and more spending for special interest groups, he'll fight for the taxpayers
