Today's LIBA lunch menu served up two key issues for Republican U.S. Senate candidates: healthcare and small business success.
The candidates did agree on one thing: less government means more progress for both.
Deb Fischer, a Republican U.S. Senate Candidate, said, "That's what we need in government. You set priorities, you determine the core responsibility of a limited government and that's what you find. With existing revenue not with tax increases."
Fischer wants to lower corporate tax and think outside the box on healthcare.
Nebraska Treasurer Don Stenberg called the President's healthcare plan a "disaster" and wants to see a free market approach.
"As your next U.S. Senator, I will offer legislation that will repeal each and every major regulation passed by the Obama Administration and tell the beaurocrats to go back and start over," said Stenberg.
Like other candidates, Stenberg wants to see government do more with less.
Attorney General Jon Bruning would repeal healthcare reform and help local businesses which drive our economy.
He said, "Why is it here in America we can continue to have beaurocrats who can continue to make rule after rule that makes it harder for you to succeed as business people."
Pat Flynn said government regulations are assaulting small businesses like his and he wants America to return to the values of our founding fathers.
"We need to cut government spending 30 percent or the budget deficit," Flynn said. "The debt is going to crush us. It can crush a household, it can crush a business, it can crush a state and it can crush a nation."
Spencer Zimmerman, another Republican candidate, was not able to make it.
Zimmerman is an Air Force veteran and businessman from Omaha who has said he would promote "business friendly" government.
