The Sheriff says two 21-year-old Fairbury residents were killed in the accident in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Sheriff Nels Sorensen says McKinley Rempel and Raini Mitchell, both of Fairbury, were found dead at the scene.

Sheriff Sorensen says at 7:30 Wednesday morning, a passerby spotted a car in the ditch on Highway 8 east of Fairbury.  Sheriff Sorensen says the driver didn't see anyone inside the car or around it.  After investigating, deputies found two victims who had been ejected from the car.  Investigators say the accident happened at around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The car was a 2003 Infinety G35 coupe. The Sheriff says it appears the right side tires left the road and in getting back on the road the driver over corrected.  The car entered the north ditch and rolled numerous times coming to rest in a pasture. Both victims were thrown from the car.

Sorensen says restraints were not in use and speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.  The Sheriff's Office is being assisted by an accident  re-constructionist from the Nebraska State Patrol.  The investigation is on going.
