An explosion at Universal Cold Storage overnight sent three workers to the hospital.
It happened just after 11:30 Monday night near 14th & Highway 2. The three employees suffered minor injuries. Fire officials say one of five water pressure machines typically used for food storage malfunctioned causing it to explode and sent parts flying.
"When the unit exploded they said some of the victims were thrown about fifteen feet there must have been quite a bit of pressure when it let loose. They were hit by flying debris is what happened," said Fire Battalion Chief Derald Murrell.
Fire officials say the three workers injured suffer cuts and bruises from pieces of the machine that hit them. The Hazmat team was also on the scene.
Universal Storage is a refrigeration company that stores large portions of food for businesses.
