Prison guard enters plea deal

Michael Huston

A former Nebraska prison guard accused of having sex with a parolee has made a plea deal.

Michael Huston was scheduled to go to trial Tuesday. In November, Huston had pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse of a parolee and prohibited acts of a corrections officer. But the trial was canceled and a plea hearing has been set for July 16.

State law bars corrections officers from having sex with parolees, because the parolees remain under the control of the prison system until they have completed parole. Huston had joined the department in 2006.
