Hundreds of mourners have turned out in York to honor a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan.

Twenty-one-year-old Lance Cpl. Hunter Hogan died June 23 during combat operations. He's from Norman, Ind., but was born in Nebraska, where his father lives.

Funeral services were held on Friday. His friend, Chase Plumer, of Seymour, Ind., told the Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/OBLqcX ) that Hogan was ``tougher than nails.'' He loved rodeo and competed in bull and bareback bronco riding.

Plumer says Hogan idolized his father, Steve Hogan, who inspired him to join the Marines after graduating in 2009 from Brownstown Central High School in Indiana.

Hogan leaves behind a wife, Brittney, of New Bern, N.C.
