Jury selection begins in BSDC employee abuse trial

A former worker is accused of abusing residents at a Nebraska center for developmentally disabled adults.

Matthew Pangborn is charged with six counts of abuse of a vulnerable adult and five counts of strangulation. He was charged after an investigation last year at the Beatrice State Development Center.

Pangborn's trial began on Monday in Gage County District Court. A judge has ruled that prosecutors could use a therapist to interpret for developmentally disabled witnesses.

Four other former workers were charged in the case. One pleaded guilty and three others pleaded no contest.
