Gas leak shuts down streets in Haymarket

Lincoln Fire and Rescue and the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) crew are at the scene of a natural gas line rupture in the Haymarket.

It happened about 5 p.m. near 8th & R streets. Q & R streets at 8th have been shut down and nearby businesses evacuated as a precaution.

Crews are trying to repair the rupture. LFR is checking the area for natural gas readings.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
