Nebraskans who fought for our country more than half a century ago were honored in Yutan Sunday.

The Korean war ended sixty years ago and the number of veterans left is getting smaller.

Sunday, representatives from South Korea awarded war heroes with medals to thank them.

They spoke about these brave men and women who fought to get Korea away from communism.

The vets say they are happy to receive this medal as a memory.  "it's just a wonderful people—they just appreciate what we've done for them," Veteran Jesse Brown says.

Veteran Bernie Wieneke says, "something that I can look back later on that says hey—it reminds me of something that I gave my life to and service for."

The Nebraska Korean War Veterans Association meets all over Nebraska once a month and they say they always welcome new members who served in the Korean war.
