Late night work in a garage turns into a dangerous situation when a fire breaks out.
The fire started in the garage but quickly spread, Destroying a large portion of a duplex.
LuckIly everyone made it out safely. The fire completely charred the garage and the front part of the home.
The call came in around 10:30 Thursday night from the area of North 1st and Fairfield. Fire officials say some late night mechanic work was to blame for the blaze. Fire fighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the back of the house.
They say their quick action saved the other half of the duplex. Even after a wall with the unit caught fire. Officials say that unit suffered smoke damage.
All the people inside the duplex made it out safely. The people living in both sides of the duplex will not be able to stay in their homes. Red cross is providing a place for them to sleep.
