The Catalyst One building is just days away from being officially open.
The new building on 13th and 'Q' has 17,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor, a five floor parking garage and three floors of suite-style apartments.
The parking garage is already open to the public and the apartments are already fully leased by students. The building offers four bedroom, two bathroom units and two bedroom one bathroom units.
Tenants have access to part of the parking garage at a $70 a month fee. "We have what's called a nested area for the residential units. It's just an area that's fenced off. They'll have special access into that area which will get them into their own elevator and go up to the upper levels," said Parking Manager for the City of Lincoln, Ken Smith.
It was no problem filling up the 52 units. Word of mouth and social media was all the marketing done to promote Parkhaus Apartments. "The biggest marketing is we're across from the University and we're 200 feet tall and when word got out that it was housing for students that's really all it took," said Josh Berger with Scott Woodbury Wiegert.
Parkhaus Apartments have balconies that offer great views of the city, and even a rooftop garden and fitness center. Each apartment has its own wireless router and a washer and dryer. Move-in for tenants starts the second week of August.
Mutual of Omaha and Chipotle are two businesses that occupy the first floor, the other three retail spaces are being negotiated. Again, the building's official naming and grand opening are Monday. The total project cost about $30 million.
