Just a few weeks after being shot in his own front yard, a Lincoln man continues to make strides toward recovery. Now, funds are being raised to help make it all that much easier.
You may remember when Isaac Durr was shot five times by his neighbor. On July 10th, what started as an altercation over a barking dog ended with Isaac in critical condition and the shooter committing suicide.
Weeks later, Isaac's in rehab and getting better. His wife, Holly says he can even go home on Wednesday. But the medical bills are starting to roll in. Holly says she is staying positive about the road ahead.
Holly Durr says, "As you can see, so many friends and family that have come together to take care of us and help us and it's just amazing and overwhelming. It only gets easier from here-so just kinda rolling with the punches."
Saturday, a poker benefit was held to help raise money for the family. There was a silent auction including a signed picture of Ndamukong Suh. Friends who helped put the event together say they're willing to do whatever they can to make it all easier.
Family Friend Christa Callender says, "Anything that we can do to help as of right now."
Through these tough times, Holly says she can never repay the people who are showing they car. Durr says, "Expressing the amount of gratitude I have, there's honestly I mean there's nothing-I can say thank you until I'm blue in the face and it's not enough."
Another benefit poker run is scheduled for next weekend. It starts in Nebraska City.
