A Lincoln food pantry is making a desperate plea for donations.

Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach just can't cut a break this summer.  First it was bug repellant, now there's a big need for food.  Their pantry shelves are bare.

There's not much left of the emergency food items that are handed out to low–income people in need.  Matt Talbot also serves two meals a day to Lincoln's homeless and working poor.  Today's count was 220 – one of the highest the kitchen has seen in a long time.

Executive Director Suzanne Blue says, "The community is so generous, really steps up to help, and so now here we are again asking for help. But now we need food and it's a very critical need for a lot of the families that are coming through right now."

Donations can be dropped off at outreach center located at:  2121 N. 27th St.

Here's a list of items needed:
- pasta and pasta sauce
-macaroni & cheese
-Hamburger and Tuna Helper
-Canned meat & tuna
-peanut butter & jelly
-canned fruit
-canned vegetables
-nutritional bars
