For families with sick children just trying to get by, there may be thousands of dollars you didn't know about available for you.

United Healthcare in Nebraska says last year only 15 grants were given to children who's medical expenses weren't fully covered by insurance and they want that number much higher this year.

Grants can be received through the United Healthcare Children's Foundation. Each grant is worth up to $5,000 and families can apply for more than one.

"For things such as durable medical equipment, speech therapy, occupational therapy, there's often a gap in coverage for those services so we wanted to offer money and funds to those people to help with some of those gaps," says Bill Tracy, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Nebraska.

Grants only take about 15 minutes to fill out and organizers say you'll know all the information off the top of your head, there's nothing to look up.

The Nebraska chapter says they'd like to give out at least 35 grants this year, but obviously if they can get more people to apply, they'll give out more. For more information, go to www.UHCCF.org.
