Zachary Neuberger is accused of firing a shotgun and killing 19-year-old Naif Al-Kazahy.
On Monday afternoon, Lincoln Police interviewed several people.. but in the end, arrested Neuberger for 2nd degree murder.
Neuberger is at the Juvenile Detention Center.. 24 hours after Al–Kazahy was shot and killed. Police say Neuberger lives with his parents in east Lincoln. One neighbor, who has asked not to be identified, says although she's never met Zachary, but she feels for his family.
"I can't imagine. So I'd hope that, the family; the parents are strong of mind."
Police say Sunday night, Neuberger and several others were sitting on the front porch of a home near 13th and Sumner. They say Al–Kazahy, his brother, and a friend were walking by when some words were exchanged between the groups. The argument became physical.
A gun was shown, and Al–Kazahy was shot in the chest and killed. Police say Neuberger and the others were found at a home in Bennet. All were interviewed, and Neuberger was placed under arrest.
"The case is still under investigation. And officers are still maintaining a crime scene," says Officer Katie Flood.
Neuberger is facing charges of second degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
"I hope they have a quick resolution. I hope that, and certainly for the parents of the victim. That they receive the resolution that they need as well."
Zachary Neuberger is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
