There's a big change in how UNL students will get into football games this year. Instead of paper tickets, students will only need their Ncard.
Nebraska has always been about tradition, especially when it comes to football. But this year, the school is changing things up by putting both football and basketball tickets on student Ncards.
Holly Adam is the Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing. Adam says, "Everything will be done electronically, kind of bring technology to today's age and I think the students will like it."
The main reason for the switch is convenience and saving time for both ticket office and students. Previously, the ticket office has been swarmed with students and non-students wanting to sell and validate their tickets on game day. Now instead of waiting in lines, everything will be done online.
We talked to many students who gave us mixed reactions:
UNL senior Mason Winkler says, "I really hate the idea of putting it on the Ncard. I like having the ticket...it's a nice souvenir."
UNL sophomore Gabrielle Minnick says, "I think it's good because it's more convenient for students because you don't have to worry about carrying your Ncard and your ticket like if you're tailgating or whatever before a game."
UNL senior Johnnie Adcox says, "It may be more convenient but I don't really care for it too much."
Students will still be able to transfer tickets with other students at no charge through a simple email exchange. As for non-students who are looking to buy student tickets, a similar method will be used through Husker.com - the validation cost still applies.
