The heat was no match for thousands of Husker fans as they packed Memorial Stadium to see their favorite players. It's an opportunity that fans look forward to every year.
The sounds of Nebraska football are up on. And Friday, more than 5,000 Husker fans filled Memorial Stadium to meet the team. They were all there; from Taylor Martinez to star running back and crowd favorite Rex Burkhead.
Fan says, "Getting autographs from number 22."
Another fan says, "In line to see Rex Burkhead, but I thought I'd go through coaches first. I got to keep my respect to Bo."
The players are just as excited as the fans that cheer them on.
Sr. Running Back Rex Burkhead says, "Oh, it's awesome. All the support they give throughout the year. It's unbelievable and just to come out here and interact with them and just have fun with them, its fun."
Aside from the players, there's a lot of buzz about the new Adidas TechFit uniforms the Huskers will wear September 29 against the Wisconsin Badgers. And boy are the fans pumped for that game!
Fan says, "Beat Wisconsin! I want to see them beat Wisconsin!"
Another fan says, "New uniforms; a little revenge."
We're only four weeks away from kickoff. The Huskers open the season at home September 1st against the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi.
