Today, the Center For People In Need handed out backpacks, school supplies and many other things to help with the burden.
The event, tools for education, was available to low income families in the Lincoln area. Parent, Kendall Corrie says, "it gets us a lot of help through the community to be able to afford to have them equipped."
Center For People In Need spokeswoman says, "going back to school is expensive, there is school, there is clothes, there is backpacks, and families, a lot of our families ear 500 dollars a month."
The center helped almost 1600 families today. For those who couldn't make it, there is still time. Backpacks will also be available on Monday evening.
