The Lancaster County Sheriff's longtime right hand man will retire at the end of the month.
Chief Deputy Bill Jarrett served as a Lincoln police officer in the early 70's before joining the Sheriff's office in 1979.
The highly decorated law enforcement deputy has served under four sheriffs since being promoted to Chief Deputy in 1992, A feet he says he's proud of. "Normally when a new sheriff takes office they bring with them a new chief but I was able to survive those moves so it was exciting," Jarrett says.
Jeffrey Bliemeister will replace Jarrett as Chief Deputy sheriff beginning in September.
Bliemeister has been with the county for 16 years.
