Seward County Judge Gerald Rouse has announced plans to retire Dec. 31, ending 40 years of service to Nebraska.
A state news release says Rouse is known for his work with the juvenile justice system.
A judicial resources commission will meet to determine whether his retirement creates a vacancy that should be filled in the 5th Judicial District. The district covers Boone, Butler, Colfax, Hamilton, Merrick, Nance, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward and York counties.
