One person killed in crash near Crete

Authorities say a collision on a state highway in southeast Nebraska has left one driver dead, another injured.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office says the head-on accident occurred around 6:35 a.m. Friday on Nebraska Highway 103 south of Crete.

The office says Maurice Baete Jr., of Beatrice, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, Jorge Santos Rivera, of Wilber, was flown to a Lincoln hospital for treatment.

The crash is being investigated.
