Police are looking for a group of men who robbed two people at gunpoint early this morning.
It happened on the MOPAC trail near 27th and W.
The robberies happened just minutes apart from one another and tonight, those who frequent the trail have a few words of advice.
It's one of Lincoln's most popular trails, the MOPAC and the leg near 27th and W is one of the busiest. But early this morning, it turned into one of the most dangerous.
Police say two people were robbed at gunpoint just minutes apart. The first one happened around 2 o'clock..."2 o'clock in the morning, coming down the path, there's a little bit of risk to it," says Lincoln resident David Gibbs.
Police say just 20 minutes after the first robbery, another happened near the trail on "Y" street.
In both cases, police say a group 3 black men, 1 carrying a handgun, demanded the victims' wallets...which they did get away with.
It's unsettling, but Patrick Payne, who lives nearby and rides the trail with his daughter, says he isn't too worried..."you know, we feel safe. Crime happens in every neighborhood."
And if you happen to find yourself in a similar situation, David Gibbs urges you to follow these simple rules..."do not try to engage them. Don't be aggressive. Be very passive. They are the dominant person. Just try to get through it and stay smart."
Police say they have no suspects at this time and don't have a detailed description of the men.
