Lincoln Police say a man crashed his mini van into a fire hydrant. Soon after, a large water main break started overnight.
A Public Works crew repaired the break near 20th and Washington. It started a little before midnight Monday.
Police say a man drove his van up on a curb on 20th and A streets, crashed into a fire hydrant and knocked it to the ground.
A neighbor in the area tells Channel 8 Eyewitness News about 20 minutes later, water could be seen seeping out of a crack in the street a block away. Police cannot confirm if the crash and water main break are related. They continue to investigate.
The driver was taken away in a police cruiser. Police say the man had no operators license and that alcohol was a factor in the accident. He was cited for driving while intoxicated and negligent driving.
