Police suspect arson in a late night car fire

A man leaps out of bed after his roommate wakes him up to tell him his car is on fire. Lincoln Police say it happened a little before midnight Tuesday near 26th and S Streets.

They say his roommate saw a person bust out the window of the 1995 ford. Soon after, the interior was on fire. The owner of the car and his roommate used a fire extinguisher and a garbage can full of water to put out the fire. Fire officials say they sprayed water on the car just to make sure the fire was completely out.

Police say a jug of gasoline was found in the back seat of the car.

Officials consider the fire arson. Police have no suspects. The investigation continues.
