We always use the housing market to judge how a city, state or country is doing financially, and Lincoln can proudly say its housing market has been on the up for nearly a year now.
The owner of Krieser Dry Wall and Insulation says his business has never been better. He's added ten employees just this year. His company hit rock bottom when the rest of the country did, but now, he can't work fast enough.
"Since 2008, we've tripled the amount of work we've done, it's confusing to grow everyday," said Krieser.
Neighbors say just a few months ago, they were the only house on the street. Now there are five more homes under construction. Home builders say that's happening around the state.
Officials say Lincoln has been on the list of growing housing markets around the country for the last nine months, and it's great for more than just the builders.
"Housing is very generous to the city, you've got your cost of construction and you've got the ripple effect with everyone who works on the house and everybody that supplies materials for the house," said Mike Benker with the Homebuilders Association of Lincoln.
More houses being build also means more jobs, both in Lincoln and around the state.
"There are a lot of guys that have been looking for work that have worked because things have gotten better," said Krieser.
Reports say the country as a whole is also getting better. Building permits rose to their highest level since August 2008.
