Lincoln's water restrictions has one homeowner in a bind and upset that she'll be wasting water rather than conserving during this drought.
Deb Otto's vegetable garden has been hurting for water this summer. Now she wants to recycle the water from her 5,300 gallon pool to nourish it.
Otto says, "We was planning on using it with a sump pump. We was gonna water like my flowers; obviously they need it."
Turns out it's not so easy as it sounds. If Otto wants to use the pool water, the city says she still has to stick to the designated days. But here's the problem - she works 12-13 hour work shifts on most of those days and can't do it.
Otto says, "I'm really frustrated over it. It's not coming out of the low-level that they're talking about now. It's something that's already out of the system and I wouldn't have to use faucet water at all."
The city says it will avoid confusion - Otto runs the risk of someone calling her in or a visit from the police. The eco-friendly nurse says it's a risk she can't afford to take.
Otto says, "I don't want to get ticketed. I can't afford a $500 fine."
The Otto's say they're only option is to drain it and waste the water.
