There's a non-profit organization in North Lincoln and their goal is to help anyone in need.
It looks like a great big closet, but really, Macie's Place is where those in need can shop with dignity and with each item priced at $1.
"I just came in, found some cute dresses in my kid's size and they were all like $5," said Andrea Montgomery from Lincoln. But it doesn't end with dresses, shoes and other items around the house.
If there's anything they can do to help, they'll do it. Whether it's collecting food for the food bank, or working one on one with clients to meet their individual needs.
"We'll buy a bus pass here or there, some diapers. Wherever the need arises and whenever we can help," said co-owner, Suzanne Merrill.
Macie's Place has a great deal where you can get 25 items for just $10. You don't have to get all 25 in just one visit. They'll give you a card that indicates how many items you get on that first visit, and how many you have left, and there's no expiration date.
With no help from the government, the owners rely on donations. They say about 90 percent of the people they help, give back to them in return. For moms like Sharon Shotsman, giving back to Macie's Place is a big thing for her and her son.
"He feels like he's helping out which is a good thing. It teaches him to be a productive member of the community as well, so it's goo on so many levels for everybody," Shotsman said.
Macie's Place is located on North 47th St. between St. Paul and Baldwin.
Their hours are:
Wed: 1-7
Thurs/Fri/Sat: 10-4
