Rides, games, fried food, and animals!
The State Fair is up and running for the next week. All the things you love about the fair will still be there, and even some new things.
"We received word Thursday night that the sky tram is okay to run so it'll start running about one Friday afternoon. Saturday, we're going for a world record attempt at the longest antique tractor parade," said Executive Director for the State Fair, Joseph McDermott.
Over 1,100 antique tractors are expected to take part in the parade Saturday. The activities earlier featured a marching band parade.
"It was fun. It was also fun to watch all the rest of the bands and see all the cool songs they play. We're a small band so to watch the big bands play is pretty fun," said Bailey who's part of the Clarkson Marching Band.
These high schoolers are big fans of the fair and love all parts of it, especially the food. "The cookies, the fried stuff, all of that! And the Corn dogs!" said one of the students. "The family fun zone and petting zoo are fun. ALso, you have to include the good food out here," said another.
Some unique eats this year? Deep fried cookie dough and chocolate covered bacon. For thrill seekers, all your favorite rides are open.
Over $1 million of entertainment is going into the State Fair this year, most of that is free.
Big name concerts this year include Billy Currington and the Steve Miller Band. There are also plenty of animals and other exhibits being shown all week. The State Fair goes from Friday, August 24th until September 3rd.
