A Lincoln church is celebrating 50 years by giving back to the community.
Lincoln Berean church held an event Sunday at Seacrest field.
They decided to make their celebration finale a thank you to the city. The thousands of people who attended brought bags of food to donate to the Food Bank.
Volunteers had already filled three truck loads by 7 o'clock. Pastor Bryan Clark says, "we talked to some of the leaders around the city and they told us the food bank is getting really low. These are difficult times for people and so they said how about if its 50 years how about 50,000 pounds."
The total amount of food raised was more than 44–thousand pounds. It was the largest food donation ever in Lincoln.
