The man known as Baby "D" was shot and killed at party a year ago.

Deanthony Love is partially responsible for Dwayne Greer's death, and on Tuesday, he was sentenced.  19-year-old Dwayne Greer, known by many as Baby D was gunned down at a house party after an argument broke out at a home on S. 53rd and M streets.

"I can't comprehend why someone would be so cruel and so mean to do something like that to him," said Greer's grandmother Delores Campbell.

Prosecutors say Deanthony Love shot Dwayne Greer in July of last year. He pleaded guilty to first degree assault and use of a weapon..

Now, Love will serve 40 to 65 years in jail with parole eligible after 22 years.

Greer got into a fight over a robbery committed earlier in the night.  The argument escalated and Greer was shot several times on the front lawn of the house.

The group of men who shot him left and then came back and shot him again, as he was laying on the ground.

Love told the court he didn't know Greer and that he shouldn't have ever been involved.  He apologized and said that over time he hopes he can be forgiven.

2 other men involved in the shooting, Jermaine Jackman and Davaughn Johnson are still awaiting sentencing.

Greer's family says they are just glad things are finally wrapping up.
