Lincoln police say the three were caught in the act early Wednesday morning.

An alert neighbor helped police nab the three teenage boys.  The break–ins happened near 46th and Linden just before 5 a.m. in southeast Lincoln.

Police say 19–year–old Mathew Hall and 18–year–old Richard McLaughlin were caught pulling on car door handles when officers arrived.  About a block away, police found 18–year–old Cody Sharp.

Police say they found a key fob in Hall's pocket, and when pressed, it unlocked a 2009 Pontiac Grand Prix.  Police say that car didn't belong to the teens.

"The car had been parked in a garage with the keys in the ignition. Someone climbed through a window of that garage and stole the vehicle," said Officer Katie Flood.

Police say the stolen car came from a home near 38th and Sheridan.  All three teens were arrested for auto theft and burglary.  It's unsure how many cars were broken into. Police say they also found some stolen items in the teens' possession.
