Two people are shot with BB's while walking near a Lincoln grocery store. It has some people worried. One person was shot in the back, the other in the head. We spoke with the owner of Guerrero Grocery, their front door was also hit by a BB. She also says a similar incident happened a little while ago.
Thursday night started out like most others for employees at Guerrero grocery at 11th and G. That all changed when they heard the sound of a BB hitting their glass front door. Things quickly got worse.
"Then the lady came inside the store and said that she had just walked from the bakery and she got hit in the back," Owner Anakaren Sanchez said.
"An older man, he came to the store and said that he also got hit in the head," Sanchez said.
Unfortunately, this senseless behavior isn't new to Anakaren Sanchez. She says about a month ago, another woman was shot by a BB near her store. And again, the store itself was targeted.
As scary as it sounds, this isn't the first time Lincoln police have dealt with a situation like this. Just a few weeks ago, a man was jogging near 27th and Sheridan when he was shot by a blow dart. Another person was hit downtown, also with a blow dart.
"Sounds like the victims did the right thing. Contacted police and then looked around at their surroundings to try to find a suspect," Officer Katie Flood said.
Sanchez says she'll be the one to foot the bill for the damage to her door. In the meantime, she's left wondering why.
"It's pretty frustrating because we're like, okay, are they just hitting us because they don't like us or are they just targeting people and they hit our store? We don't know," Sanchez said.
At this time, police do not have an accurate description of the suspects. But this is an ongoing investigation and anyone with any information is urged to step forward.
