A pilot is dead after his plane crashes and goes up in flames at an air show in Davenport, Iowa.
It was just before 1:30 this afternoon when a retired soviet jet went in for a 45 degree dive and couldn't correct.
Crews spent hours cleaning up the area that authorities say had levels of toxic gas immediately following the crash.
Residents in the area say they're shocked by the tragic news.
Firefighter's wife, Rickie Berry says, "we just got a phone call from home saying a pilot has crashed and they were in the process of getting the flames out and not sure what happened to the pilot."
The show did continue today...despite the crash.
