As the obesity rate continues to climb, weight loss surgery is becoming more common.
Bryan LGH has a program to help patients get through it!
It's the Bryan Bariatric Advantage and they're doing it through Lifepointe.
This is for anyone considering bariatric surgery or who has had the surgery and is just looking for support.
Register Dietician Katie Walz says, "any bariatric patient or anybody that's considering weight loss surgery or even just wants to lose weight can participate in our behavior modification program that we have. You don't have to qualify for surgery, we're just wanting to get people healthy and help them lose weight."
Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Armour Forse says, "I think that obesity unfortunately knows no limits and so by the same token we do know that it has a significant impact on your health and on your life expectancy. The degree of obesity that we're talking about probably takes away two decades of life."
A free education session is being offered for anyone who wants to learn more.
It's Tuesday, September 11th from 6 to 7 pm at Lifepointe by Bryan LGH. That's just south of Pine lake on 27th street.
