Labor day weekend marks the last big weekend for campers. Even in this heat, they were still out.
State officials say this is the busiest weekend of the summer. Those who do make it out to the parks have it down to a science to stay cool and beat the heat.
Omaha resident Paula Walters says, "you know we made sure that we got up really early this morning and went out and rode bikes and did all those sorts of things but we've been inside the last couple of hours and the plan is to go fishing when it gets cooler."
The traditional camping season is over after this weekend, but most camp sites are open until some time in October—depending on weather.
