A Denton family is homeless this morning after a backyard grill sets their house on fire. The family was able to quickly get out before the house completely went up in flames. However, fire officials say the father did suffer a few burns from the blaze.
The call came in around 9 o'clock last night from Denton. Fire officials say the family was grilling out on the back deck when it caught fire. Officials did confirm the grill started the blaze. However, they aren't sure if it tipped over or how it was involved. The flames then quickly spread to the rest of the house.
Neighbor Jerry Kraus describes it, he said "Coming out of the garage here and was going to go get my truck out of the building and my wife was right behind me and she hollered 'look!' and I looked and it was in total flames."
Fire officials say the house is a complete loss and the flames also burned many of the trees in the surrounding area. Fire crews were able to save a barn on the property.
