If those fall sneezes and wheezes seem to be hitting you earlier than usual.. the drought is likely to blame.

Allergy sufferers are suffering more than ever this year... and earlier.

"This year seems to be a lot earlier, more like end of July rather than end of August time frame," said Gena Brecka, an allergy patient.

Just one more drawback to the Nebraska drought.  You see, a lack of rain keeps that lingering pollen in the air.

"Weed pollens at this point in time are very high and then with the contribution of the dryer climate and hot climate we've experienced over the past few weeks we have increased prevalence of dry molds,"  said Dr. Petra Razdan with Lincoln Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Early harvesting due to lack of surviving crops could also be helping kick up some of the allergens some sufferers don't usually see until later in the year.  Meaning, it may take a lot more tissue this year to get you into cooler weather.

Until then, doctors say for some sufferers over-the-counter medicines like Zyrtec, Clariton, or Allegra will definitely help... but for some, a series of allergy shots from your doctor may be needed.

Doctors say to continue your regular allergy treatments, and if that doesn't help, it's important to see a doctor- especially if children are experiencing allergy symptoms.
