State Treasurer Don Stenberg says his office returned more than $17,000 in unclaimed property to those who stopped at his booth at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.

Stenberg says the unclaimed property booth was busy throughout the fair a fairgoers searched for their names among the unclaimed property rolls.

Examples of unclaimed property include health claim payments, dividends, life insurance proceeds, stocks, safety deposit boxes and unused gift certificates.

The treasurer's office will also host a booth at Husker Harvest Days, starting Tuesday and running through Thursday, west of Grand Island. It also will host a booth at the Applejack Festival, Sept. 15 and 16, in Nebraska City.
