Lincoln police caught a man in the act of stealing some steel at Speedway Motors.

27-year-old Joshua Hoegemeyer was arrested for Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. Police Officer Katie Flood says the owner of Speedway Motors, near Sun Valley and West O, discovered a skid loader that didn't belong there.

The rental company for the loader told the Speedway owner that Hoegemeyer had rented it. Police say officers waited at the area and saw Hoegemeyer return. They say he got into the skid loader and began loading steel onto his truck. He was arrested.

Police also say Hoegemeyer had been selling the steal to a scrap metal company.
