A southeast Nebraska farmer accused of letting hundreds of animals die on his farm will spend at least 20 months in jail. 61-year old John Maahs was sentenced 20 months to 4 years in jail for animal cruelty.
In April he pleaded no contest to one count of neglect.. Nine other counts were dropped in the plea agreement. Last fall.. Otoe County sheriff's deputies found hundreds of pig carcasses on his farm. They also found starving pigs, goats and a calf.
