The two men who saved lives after they rushed to the scene of the Blue Hill bus crash have been called heroes and guardian angles. Now they're being recognized by Sen. Mike Johanns.
"Thank you. Thank you for your courage and your selflessness," Johanns said.
Johanns thanked Ron Meyer and Phil Petr on the Senate floor in Washington, D.C. for their actions after the Blue Hill bus crash.
The September 5th accident between a school bus and semi killed four people including two children. The senator said the men were seen running toward the bus right after the fiery accident. A rancher who witnessed their bravery said the two men are responsible for saving the lives of five children.
The senator said the Blue Hill community applauds the two heroes and he couldn't agree more.
"I stand before you today on behalf of the Blue Hill community and all of my fellow Nebraskans to offer my deepest appreciation to Ron Meyer and Phillip Petr. God bless them and God bless all those affected by this terrible crash," Johanns said.
Johanns also honored and thanked the first responders.
